About the
articles on this site
No two people are completely alike, and each of us is at a differing stage in our Christian walk. The Bible advises that there are those for whom the "meat" of the Word is preferred, and those for whom the "milk" is of greater benefit.
It is the intention of both Ian and myself to present a broad range of topics for review. We trust that our very different writing styles and approaches will cater for the cross section of visitors to this site.
Many of the articles are presented simply in an endeavour to offer another perspective to those who genuinely wish to critique their current (or former) beliefs. However, some topics are more involved, and are intended primarily for the Revivalist oversight, for those who have significant influence over the lives, beliefs and destinies of people. Like it or not, this group of teachers and pastors should be well versed, not only in the Bible itself, but also in the tools and techniques required to correctly gain a mature understanding of the biblical texts. From time to time, when certain passages are encountered that do not suit a Revivalist perspective, appeals have been made to the 'cultures' of the day, or to the historic situations underpinning the text, all in an effort to work around perceived scriptural dilemmas. Examples of RCI explanations given on 1 John and sin, and demons in the New Testament demonstrate a subjective and indiscriminate picking and choosing of interpretive methods. This identifies a poor, and not particularly responsible methodology, which is all the more alarming given that peoples lives and eternities are at stake.
